    Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Chagossian Records , there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

    Known limitations for Chagossian Records:

    1. Forms: Certain forms lack labels. This issue occurs where the plugin utilised does not add a standard ‘label’ element to certain forms, specifically our Contact form and our Application to View a Modern Record’ form. However, Aria labelling for screen readers is provided in these forms and we feel that the experience of visitors using screen readers is not significantly compromised. Visitors using screen readers should be mindful of this issue and move past these fields where they occur. If you experience any insurmountable issues please contact us via out email address: BIOTAdmin@fcdo.gov.uk .

    1. Throughout: Name, Role and Value is missing on some form elements. Certain form elements are generated by plugins to support the ‘behind the scenes’ functionality of the site. These do not have name, roles or values attached to them. These fields are not designed to be human readable but can in certain situations be picked up by screen readers. Visitors using screen readers should be mindful of this issue and move past these fields where they occur. If you experience any insurmountable issues please contact us via out email address: BIOTAdmin@fcdo.gov.uk .
